remittance, money remittances transfer haitian diaspora

remittance, money remittances transfer haitian diasporaSince July 8, the day after the country and the world learned of the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, I’ve been seeing some of these feelings being amplified on social media. To sum them up: “Give us your money, not your opinion.” “You don’t know what you’re talking about because you’re not living the daily reality, or hell, that Haiti has become in the last three years.” With Haiti though, it’s the diaspora that serves as the de facto middle class, the backbone of the society. The uber rich don’t care who’s in power and the bottom trodden shrug off politics too because their station in life doesn’t change, regardless of who’s president.

Haiti Health Network, Haitian Nurses, Health Tech, Trainer

Haiti Health Network, Haitian Nurses, Health Tech, TrainerThe Haiti Health Network, or HHN, needed to know the who, what, where and how of all health care professionals to solve those issues, and so it mapped the frontline, small rural and mid-size regional clinics and referral hospitals throughout all ten of Haiti’s departments. In partnership with Haiti’s Ministry of Health, the five HHN staff in Haiti visited and collected data — from the 1,300 health care facilities — on the access and possession of medicines, electricity, equipment, and staffing.

Cap-Haitien natives in Florida bemoan “lost nation” broadcast before Moïse’s funeral
